When Is A Hidden Security Camera Your Best Bet?
There are times when a hidden security
camera is your best friend or employee, and other
times when one is basically worthless.
To determine if one is right for you, you first have to make
sure you fully understand your intent for purchasing a security
camera.
Remember this first and foremost, a hidden security camera
will not deter what ever it is you are hoping to capture on
tape. This can be both good and bad. If you are trying to
prevent a burglary or business crime, a camera in plain view
may help to keep such a crime from happening. The perpetrator
may see the camera and think twice. And when it comes to crime,
prevention should be your first priority. A hidden security
camera will not prevent this, but it will make it easier to
catch the suspect afterwards. Sure that's great, but isn't it
better to stop the crime before it is committed? The problem is
that an exposed camera will serve to deter only the more
casual, minor criminal.
In the case of a more determined criminal, or perhaps a more
experienced one, a hidden security camera has benefits you
can't get from an exposed camera. Since it is hidden, it will
obviously be more difficult for the criminal to spot. And if he
does see it, it becomes more difficult for him to either
disconnect or avoid.
If he doesn't see the camera, chances are he'll be a bit
more reckless, and it will be easier to catch him once you
discover the crime. And if you take it one step farther, most
hidden security cameras are monitored by a security camera 24
hours a day. That means police be alerted and dispatched as
soon as something suspicious is seen. They may even arrive in
time to catch the criminal on the spot.
Keep in mind however that a hidden security camera system
will be expensive. Generally they are used by larger business,
those with very valuable products, or in the homes of wealthy
people with high priced valuables. These are the type of places
more likely to draw the determined criminal. They are also the
places where a hidden security camera will work best. If this
does not describe your home or business, there are less costly
yet still effective security camera systems available.
