An Internet Security Camera - Great Deal Or Scam
Like almost anything else, it is now possible to purchase
an internet security camera.
What you'll find are security cameras that are inexpensive
and a breeze to purchase and install. But how do you know your
internet security camera will work properly? The last thing you
want to do is find out when you need it most that you just
spent your money on a lemon.
For a while it seems as though every fly by night company
was selling internet security camera. And quite often you got
exactly what you paid for. But that's changing. You'll now find
well known companies, those that have been in the security
business for a long time now selling these cameras online. Just
like in a standard brick and mortar store, you will find
working cameras that are capable of recording every movement
for days at a time. You'll also find dummy cameras, those
designed to trick a would be burglar into believing the
property is truly under surveillance.
But the words buyer beware take on added importance when
buying an internet security camera. Many companies sell used
equipment. There's nothing wrong with that of course assuming
the buyer is told it is used. Here's the problem. They may be
working now, but for how long. How old is the camera and how
much life does it have left? Again just be careful. Less likely
but even more problematic are the companies that advertise
security cameras at incredible prices. These are prices that
should let you know something is not right. Usually that's the
case. Perhaps the company forgot somehow to mention that these
cameras are dummy security cameras. Sounds crazy but it has
happened before.
It all comes down to using common sense when purchasing
internet security cameras. The standard rules apply. Shop
around, compare prices and equipment, and arrive at some kind
of an average cost. Then your best bet is typically to look
closely at the cameras that would be at the lower end of mid
range cost. You'll come out with a better deal than if you just
accept the first, ultra low priced camera you find.
It also helps to research the companies you are considering.
Find out which ones are reputable, have been in business for a
while, and offer top name brands. You'll do better to buy from
them then a company that's been in business for six months.
Also, beware of so called closeout sales. These will claim to
have top name cameras at prices that seem incredibly low.
There's a good chance you'll get burned if you select the
lowest priced camera on the market. There's a reason it is
priced so low. You'll do better, as we mentioned, by selecting
something priced somewhere near the middle.
